Where is the best place to travel in early march for golf that is within 9 hours of michigan?

I am looking to drive somewhere within 8 - 12 hours of Grand Rapids, Mi to go golfing for two days the first weekend in March of this year.

Muscle Shoals and Huntsville Alabama both have some fantastic Robert Trent Jones courses.  I go there with a group of guys every year.

They are both in northern Alabama, and the drive is just shy of 9 hours from South Bend, IN.  Might be more like 10 to 11 for you from Grand Rapids.

Also it might be a little chilly at the first of March.  Just pray for a good heat wave.  We played the second week of March last year and it was in the 80's the whole time we were there.  However the locals all said it was unseasonably warm.

Kohler, WI. Great golf in this area! Championship courses! Whistling Straits, site of the 2004 and 2010 PGA Championship, Blackwolf Run; site of the Women's U.S. Open, The Bull at Pinehurst; a Jack Nicklaus design course. Between this group of courses, the best is Whistling Straits.

Well just get in the car and go straight south as fast you can for 10 hours.  That should put you in Kentucky, Tennessee, North Carolina area and there are many places to play golf in those areas.  If you drive really fast you could probably make northern Georgia or Alabama too.

Blackwolf Run in Kohler, Wi if you can get a tee time.  It is the Kohler Corp. (plumbing fixtures company) golf course.  They use it as an incentive for their customers, but also have public tee times.  I've been up there a couple times and can not imagine a better golf course.

From Grand Rapids, you'll need to get as far South as possible at that time of the year.

I created a drivetime zone on Microsoft Streets and Trips....and the farthest South you could get in nine hours would be Nashville, TN.
