  1. around the great Lakes is good ,strong and consistent winds the upper peninsula of Michigan has a few wind turbines check out Mackinaw

  2. around Chicago

  3. http://www.eere.energy.gov/windandhydro/...

  4. Washington D.C, because of all the hot air being blown by liberal politicians.  If we could capture all of that wasted energy, we could free ourselves from our dependency on imported oil.

  5. My husband works on the commercial wind turbines.  There are advantages and disadvantages to almost every area.

Near the ocean you have great, nearly constant winds.  Drawback...most of the human population lives near the costal waters.  You get a lot more people howling, and protesting against wind turbines near the ocean.  You also have to deal with salt damage to  the turbines.

The ones my husband works on are in the mountains of Idaho.  Low population, so not as many people protesting against them (but still some).  Here ice/snow is a real factor.  They have to use a snow cat in the winter to even be able to get to the wind turbines, the snow is so deep.  Ice can of course cause damage to the blades.

The best places of course a in areas of near constant and steady winds, with low population density.
