My husband get a new job in Toronto (we don't know exactly where?), but I'm looking for a nice place to live near by. The place must be family-friendly. I really would like to pay around $900 for rent for a 2 bed apt. Can anybody give me some hints?

  1. Its a huge city.  Where you live will depend mostly on your job location.  I would suggest you find temporary accomodations with family or hotel/motel (with a kitchenette so you can prepare own meals for couple weeks) and scout the city from there once you know where you work and what kind of community you want to live in.  Sometimes people say "Toronto" and mean a suburb 40 miles from the city so knowing what general area is really a must.

http://www.torontorenting.com/  this site will give you some idea of rents in various areas of the city.

    Good luck on your move

  2. You can expect to pay about $900 a month for a one bedroom in a good area in the city. 2-bedrooms are much higher if you want a nice area.

If you want to live close to his work, that's fine; just remember that there is a good transit system to get around.

The nicest areas (although most expensive) are from about Yonge and Rosedale, and northwards on the  Yonge subway line.

The St. Clair west area is pretty decent, and you might find a 2-bedroom for that price. Don't go TOO far west on St. Clair though, because it does get a little sketchier. Try around Bathurst/St. Clair.

    Try www.viewit.ca

If you see something you like, feel free to email me and I can tell you if it's in a decent area or not.

  3. none, everything is overpriced.
