  1. Go to founders plaza park area.

You can watch the planes take off and land there and also listen to the tower.

It is on the south end of runway 35L.

To get there coming from the south (Dallas/Fort Worth side) you take the main service road into the airport are (go around the toll Booth's).

I believe it is the 2nd right after you pass the toll booth area.

Follow the road and you will come to the park.

There are brown signs directing you to the park.

  2. Which way is the wind blowing?? I assume you want takeoff photos.

  3. At Dallas/Ft. Worth Int'l Airport, the...best spotting is when planes are approaching from the south and taking off to the north.

There are two sets of main runways on either side of the terminals. On the east side (closest to Dallas) there is a brand new observation parking area on East Airfield Drive at the south end of the runways. To get there from Hwy 183, take the Airport entrance and exit to the service road before you get to the toll booths. Turn right on East Airfield Drive and follow it around to the observation area.

On the west side (closest to Ft. Worth) you can park in the West Reduced Rate Parking Lot and get some great views of landings and takeoffs, pretty much right in front of you. You have to pay to park here, but it's really cheap & shouldn't cost you more than a few bucks for a few hours."
