Where is the best sushi restaurant in london?

try misato at leicester square.. in front of that closed down odeon cinema... they do big servings and they do it cheap too.. the restaurant is included in cheap eats in london 2005 survey and theres always que, be patient and im telling you its worth it.. so try it and let me know what you think... arrigato! :)

Yo Sushi! which is everywhere.  Two branches spring to mind, one on Poland Street and one next to Boots near Bond Street Station.  They have a conveyor belt!

a japanese friend who lives in london took me to cafe bento in camden as she said it was the best affordable sushi in london.

i am lucky to eat out quite a lot in the centre of town due to my job and all the ones mentioned above - nobu, zuma, roka - are the best in my opinion if money is no object; and they are all supplied by a japanese supermarket called atari-ya which is in temple fortune and you can eat-in there - its very cheap but not really a restaurant, they just have a bar for sushi as they supply the best fish.

Of the chains, i think that hai sushi is the best myself, i dont like yo and itsu is alrigh, but that is he restaurant where that poor russian dude was poisoned..........

Tee W gave a good answer.  The best sushi places often cater to Japanese clientele, and there are several around Brewer Street in Soho e.g. Ten Ten Tei.  I would say that the sushi and sashimi at Zuma in Knightsbridge are superb, though it is not cheap and is hard to get a reservation.  Its sister restaurant Roka in Charlotte Street is also very good.  Nobu is good but very costly and a bit precious.  Other good places include Cafe Japan in NW11, Sumosan in W1 (but go to Zuma for preference) and Sushi Hiro in Ealing.  There are 22 Japanese restaurants in the 2007 Good Food Guide, which is the most reliable of the guides.  I would go for Zuma is you can get a table.

Okawari (just off Leicester Square) - Lovely atmosphere, good food, very good value, wide range of freshly-prepared and very nice sushi and does other food too.

Itsu, off Wardour Street, bit more pricey, but has the traditional conveyor belt and VERY nice drinks.

Itsu, is really great. Not exactly cheap, but has a great atmosphere and its right in the middle of Soho, plus is has the proper conveyor belt, which is always fun!

YO! its one of the best and its open till late. i love it there and it tastes really good. atmosphere is relaxed, retro, and layed back, and the price is desent...its a cool place. try it.

itsu is not traditional Japanese food,, yo sushi is mass produced Japanese food of quite low quality,, they even employ Chinese people to make it  look more oriental.

The best Japanese restaurants are probably around the Japanese supermarket on brewer street, Soho, w1.

Or there is a very good small Japanese restaurant near the old Camden palace nightclub, its called Asa kusa. I does a lot of traditional cooked Japanese meals.

the food at nobu and its sister restaurant ubon is very good but pricey.

For a different sort of Japanese influenced food try benihama,, they have restaurants in central, kings road and Swiss cottage.
