Well I do not know the best in the world. But the best place I ever rode (bodyboarding) was the Wedge in Newport Beach, Ca. Was about 20' with some 25' sets ... craziest barrels I have ever been in. You could drive a freakin truck through there.

Jeffrey's Bay, South Africa for an amazing, long right point break.

Teahupoo, Tahiti for the heaviest barrel of your life.

Pipeline, Hawaii for an intense barrel.. and it's the proving grounds of the sport.

Cortes Bank or Mavericks, or possibly Jaws for big wave riding.

And a island paradise in some tropical location with only you and a few friends out.

Depends on what you mean by best. The Hawaiian Islands get some of the best surf in the world because they are located in the middle of the Pacific and a swell from just about any direction means there is surf some where on the islands.

The north shore of Oahu has more famous surf spots than any place all within a few miles of each other. Sunset, Rocky Point, Pipeline, Waimea, Haliewa.

Teahupo'o produces some of the best looking barrels in the world and you'll see it on a lot of magazine covers etc.

The best waves as far as shape and ride quality are probably J-bay or G-land.

The biggest are places like Mavericks, Todos Santos, and Jaws.

Chicama, Peru claims to have the longest wave in the world with rides of a mile or more.

Every surfer has his own idea of the perfect wave, so it really depends on you.
