  1. its high season so everywhere is expensive.

Protea hotels are decent and on the cheaper end of hotels, otherwise try a B&B

  2. The beach.

  3. Try Allendale cottages,In tokai Cape town, (they have a website) awsome self catering cottages at very competitive prices , plus they  have a pool , tennis courts , horse riding etc..really nice place , I stayed there just a few weeks back!!

  4. Go to the shacks, you dont pay a peny. my shack has plenty of room, i will cook you some xhosa food.

  5. Be very cautious - your best bet is to go to backpackers - there are a number of good ones in Cape Town and surrounding areas

  6. If it's you travelling alone or just you and your partner, try a backpackers.

Carnival Court in Long Street and Long Street Backpackers.

Those two are the most popular. You get to meet locals as well as people from other countries.

  7. Our Wendy house. 10 bucks.

Bean has it right, since it will be the high season where everyone wants to be here, try one of the many backpackers in town. There are some really nice ones around Long Street, not just crappy places.

THE BACKPACK, for instance, has been voted as best backpacker sleep by Lonely Planet:

  8. Cape Town for december would be expensive, as if you travel in jul or aug rates would be as low as $30 per night but for december its as low as $50 per night try at http://www.moneybulls.com/travels.htm

  9. It depends on your budget. There are a few caravan parks in Cape Town where you can get cheap accommodation. Call them and book a place in advance.

Here is a link to the tourism site for Cape Town. There is a section where you can get a lot of different places to stay:

  10. Pretty much the further from the city centre the cheaper the accommodation gets. Staying in the suburbs will be cheaper, but you will have to travel around 30 minutes to the city centre though.

  11. Away from the city centre, in backpackers.  try green elephant in Observatory, it's on the train line, only about 3 stops from CT centre but not demanding the premium that the CBD places do.

It's high season then, so everything is pricier.
