Where is the cheapest area of Dublin to rent accommodation...?

It's not a question of area really, it's a question of type of accommodation. By far the cheapest way to rent in Dublin is to share a house.

After that, the next criterion would be something like transport to work/city centre. Not a lot of use to have a lovely low-rent place to live that is 2 hours of a bus ride in and out of work every day.

You have to balance the two.

A youth hostel.  Nice place when I stayed there.  Cheap...

Northside...double figures: Dublin 11, 13 ,15 would be cheapest

Southside...double figures: Dublin 12, 14 etc.
