I have a 3 bedroom home with 1 bathroom and a detatched garage, with a pitbull. I cant find anyone in my area to insure me because he is considered a high risk. He's not mean he's like a big baby.

  2. It doesn't matter whether he's mean or not, none of the traditional companies will insure you.

The only one that I know of that will is Foremost. They will insure you with a dog exclusion, which means that if he ever does bite someone you won't be covered and you can be sued to cover the medical bills, etc. The premiums for the Foremost policy are more expensive as well.

  3. See the blog entry under “sources” for more info on dog exclusions. I recommend speaking with insurance broker who handles different kinds of insurance and works with several companies. To find one in your area, log on to a website like http://www.homeownerswiz.com and fill out a form requesting a quote. Good luck!

  4. What does "cheapest" have to do with coverage for a pit bull?  At the best, any insurer will demand an additional-cost rider for the dog.

  5. Yep, you're not about cheapest, if you want to keep that dog.  You're about anyone willing to insure you at all, at any cost.

At about three times the rate of a standard policy, Foremost Insurance (www.foremost.com) will write a homeowners policy on you, and EXCLUDE the dog.  Yep, no dog bite liability under that policy.

And they're the ONLY company I know of, that will write ANY kind of homeowners liability on a home with a pitt bull.
