Where is the cheapest place to buy a Nikon D40?

At present  Amazon has the best prices on the D40 with AF-S 18-55 mm ED lens.  Under $470 complete.  eBay may have some cheaper quotes, but those cameras are most likely gray market and the components shipped are not usually Nikon.

The above writer is correct.  Look at B&H Photo, Adorama, Samy's, Ritz and other reputable sellers of cameras.

If you are a Sam's Club member the D40 with both the 18-55 mm and 55-200 mm lens is under $620.

Buy at Adorama or BHphoto.com  These are cheap and reputable websites that will give you a much better deal than an In-store price.  O ya, and get a Canon :)

A brand new camera with a lens

cost around four hundred and seventy dollars.

If you want brand new, you can't flex around that. The only way you are going to get a cheap camera is if it's used, and from a store like

Be careful of online deals that seem too good to be true. some of these are disreputable folks who will sell you the camera but not include the accessories thate are supposed to come with them ( battery charger etc ) . They sell them seperately making you pay more in the long run. For that reason I say also to stay with places like Adorama or B&H
