  1. prepaid debit cards cost money to activate and fill. easy solution is to get her a credit card in your name with a small limit say $300 or something. You can even talk to your credit card companies to see if they can make her an authorized user on your card with a fixed credit limit less than what your limit is. Otherwise, Capital One has some $300 credit limit cards that would work.

  2. Talk to your bank.  Instead of using a prepaid credit card, your best bet may be to open a free checking account in both your names.  Make her be responsible for the account - either you explain to her how they work or take her to the bank with you so they can teach her.  Do not just give money freely.  She needs to learn to live within a budget.  She also has to deal with the consequences if she spends more than is in the account and gets hit with an overdraft fee.  Better that she learns now before she gets out on her own.

    Good luck.
