I am moving out soon. And I want to go and get the cheapest things for my apartment. I am not sure about the style yet. But I am reading anything that has to do with independent living.

  1. yard sales are the cheapest place also you can try a consignment store that resales used furniture the only difference is the the quality of the furniture. if you want something new ikea has reasonable prices. you can get coffee tables at target/walmart/sam's club.

  2. IKEA if you live near one!!!!! shipping for there is expensive! but furniture is cheap. But since college starts soon the furniture at jc pennies and other department stores should be cheap

  3. I have found some great pieces at thrift stores and either refinished or painted them. I also got a couple of small chest of drawers, painted them a high gloss cinnabar red and used one long piece of bamboo across the horizontal midline of each drawer as long drawer pulls. I used them as end tables and they looked fabulous plus provided extra storage.

An art professor of mine stained and varnished a plain hollow core door (without the k**b hole drilled) and attached black metal table legs from the home supply store. It looked fabulous as a dining table. Any low trunk from a Cost Plus World Market store or Goodwill can be used as a coffee table with a heavy piece of glass from a glass supply store.

Ikea has relatively inexpensive furniture as does Walmart and Target. Try to get pieces that have hidden storage if you're moving to a small apartment. Have fun and be creative!! : )

  4. Try this

    http://www.discountfurnitureonlinestore....

    Good luck.

  5. Not sure where you live but here we have a website called Freecycle. It is for peopel who ahve somethign to get rid of, they don't use it anymore or do not want it. Instead of throwing it away (to keep it out of landfills) they post it on a web board and people in that area can read it and see if they want it. It is totaly free to sign up and to be a freecycler.

Do a search in your yahoo search engine.

    Happy hunting!

  6. Oh boy, you can have so much fun!  Check your local newspaper, and go to any and all estate sales advertised.  You can find really great pieces, and at great prices.  Plus you'll probably have much better quality than you'll find at most garage sales.   Good Luck!
