  1. I,m not sure which side it on in your focus,,but looking in  your engine compartment find the a/c hose's,you should see alittle one & a big one ,the little hose is the one that you want to keep your eye's on,You should be able to follow the hose until you come into contact with the fitting that you need to be able to put your freon in at.It's on that little hose or if you still can,t find it , look for that round silver metal bolttle and it should be on there if it is'nt on the hose.

  2. Ok your car doesn't use freon but it uses 134a. everyone calls it freon so i know what you mean. just learing up that answer from the other guy.  your ports are as follows. high side is right next to the radiator on the drivers side. no where your "freon" gets charged is a little trickier. you have to turn you wheels to the right. go into the wheel well on the passenger side and pull the black plastic shroud out of there behind the shroud under the finder and the front bumper is the reciever dryer, there is your lowside charge port. i have done a hundred of these on the focuses. it is a pain in the but, but there it is.

  3. Find and fix the leak first. then take it to a place that has the equipment to properly evacuate and charge your system.

A/C systems are normally very reliable nowadays but when they go wrong it is normally beyond the scope of DIY repairs.

You can buy top up kits but beware - if you introduce anything into the system that shouldn't be there (dirt, water, air etc) you stand a good chance of ruining the whole system.

    Good luck!.

  4. (1) It is illegal to use Freon.

    (2) You have to find the leak using a UV gas and a UV light to find the leak and plug it. Its generally a cracked hose. You have to drain the system first to swap.

    (3) On fords its near the firewall, near the hinges of the hood, usually toward the middle from the passengers side.
