Question:

Where is the dipstick for the transmition fluid located on a 1997 chevy malibu?

We cannot find one but there has to be right????Please help!!!!!!!!

  1.   It may not have one. I know the 1998 chevy malibu 6 cyl does not have one. The only way to check it is to put the car on a lift and open a plug on the side of the transmission and stick your finger in. This is for the automatic transmission. Crazy hugh?? Its in the Haynes repair manual.


  2. There isn't one most likely. GM has gone to what they call a sealed transmission since around '95. This means that the only way to check the fluid is by a plug on the side of the transmission. Look it up in the manual for the specific location.

  3. It don't have one!! that was one of GM's better ideas... read owners manual or call dealer for details on fluid level.

  4. Most transmission sticks should have a yellow handle on it to grap. Should be back torwards the firewall near the center, down low, you may have to look hard for it.
