Question:

Where is the drain pipe in my refrigerator?

I have an 11 yr. old Frigidaire fridge. IT leaks the water down the back of the inside of the fridge and collects in the bottom under the cripsers. I have the crispers out and am always mopping up the water.

People tell me it a clogged drain pipe but I looked and don't see one. Where would it be and how do I fix it? Thanks.

  1. This drain comes from the freezer, so if you have a top freezer you will most likely see it running down the back of the refrigerator.  Try to clean it out and melt any ice that might be in it.  It could be a water spill in the freezer that clogged the line and the defrost cycle isn't enough to get it thawed.  You might want to thoroughly defrost the freezer (manually) to get all the water out of it.  This will usually unclog the drain.

  2. Most drains empty in a tray under the fridge behind the base grill. If you look closely under the doors you may see it. Usually it is only held in by clips. Maybe the drain to that pan is clogged with dirt and debris as it usually evaporates in that pan from the heat of the condensor. You may have to pull your fridge away from the wall to inspect it and clean behind it and from underneath it. Good luck...
