Where is the drive water pump located on a 305 mercruiser?

if its in the lower unit is that a hard thing to fix? never done one before this is my first boat.

Alpha drive- in the lwr gearcase, Bravo drive- sea pump on the stbd side of motor.  This motor swings both ways

Yes, the water pump is located in the lower unit.  There are some exceptions to this, like a pump mounted on the side of the engine, But that's obvious.

Jim is correct Alpha and older are in the lower unit. Bravo's are on starboard side of motor. Just pray you dont have the new Gen III Cool Fuel! Those are fun when trying to change the impellar on a Bravo! lol
