Where is the fuel pump on a 1986 toyota mr2?

  1. it is inside the fuel tank and the tank is the mid-section of the car where the driveline tunnel would be on an older type vehicle. it is not easy to remove-so you want to be sure the fuelpump is the issue first by checking the fuel pressure. Easiest place is the cold start injector on the intake manifold(banjo type fitting). Once the gauge is installed-turn the key to Run and jumper terminals FP and B+ at the diagnostic connector in the engine compartment. Needs about 28-34lbs. Pumps typically last about 140-200K  miles, so if you are there it is quite likely the culprit. Advise you to spend the xtra $$ and get a factory Toyota pump...it is not a job you wanna do twice.   2. in the fuel tank...under the car...a ****** to get to....might be easier to open up the center consul and remove the shifter and alll accesories around it and get it from the hole the shifter and the boot was at...
