We live in a teeter-totter world. For every up there is a down. But where is the fulcrum?

  1. The fulcrum, like the ups and downs, exists as a human construct within our collective consciousness. The collective consciousness is determined by the whims of biological and social evolution. Without our minds to perceive the differences in each other and our environments, there would be no ups, no downs, and no fulcrum.

edit: The fulcrum exists in our minds, it's not a physical place.

  2. It rests on a pink elephant in the center ring.

  3. I believe it is the constant search for who we are and where it is that come to be from. This to me is the fulcrum of life on earth.

  4. The fulcrum, by definition, is that which does not change even though it is surrounded by and causes all the others.

In the world of man, this would seem to be man himself.  He is as history has always recorded him.  A biological entity.  Reasoning, though often unreasonable.  Prone to illness and death, yet almost always looking forward to greatness and immortality.  Our nature:  physical, emotional, mental, and perhaps spiritual.

    This is the fulcrum.

  5. For some people the bulk of their fulcrum is their money and their house and their SUV and their church and maybe their family and dog and "bedpost"-- which will perhaps suffice for a while. For others-- their fulcrum rests in their mind--in their experience and ability and confidence in dealing with the vicissitudes of life-- and in their past choices.

  6. If you walk the middle path, the path of moderation, you are standing on the fulcrum. Then you are in the calm of the storm, or teeter totter.
