  1. China, Not sure how long.

  2. Trans siberian railway in Russia. It starts from vladivostok (east coast) to st petersburg( west end)

  3. I believe that the most extensive light rail system in the world is in Switzerland, where there are 127 independent rail operators, many of them using narrow gauge track and linking the smaller communities.

  4. Bragging, are you?  Porfirio Rubirosa indeed.

Define "light rail".  The Queensland Railways in Australia is the biggest narrow gauge system in the world with a gauge of 3'6".  However it is not what you would call "light".  The Trans-Siberian Railway is broad gauge at 5' so it is hardly "light" either.

Some of the logging railways around the world might meet a definition of "light".  The only extensive one that I can think of is the Cass Scenic railway in the USA, a former logging railway now worked with Shay and perhaps Climax locos.

Some of the mountain rail systems in Switzerland or Austria might be about as long and are rack or cog systems.

Are metropolitan tramway systems "light rail"?  The Melbourne, Australia tram system was deliberately not abandoned in the 1960s and is still quite extensive.

  5. Both the Patagonian Light railway and the Kunming-Hekou Railway claim to have 400 km of working track although the former was once much longer.  Many of the older Chinese lines are abandoned now.

The Trans Siberian line is a heavy gauge line as far as I know.  It is the longest continuous line in the world but not the answer you seek.
