  1. iansand, I agree that the whole country is beautiful. North Island is soft and green whereas South Island is rugged and brown in general. I spent most of my trip (5 weeks) in South Island and only a few hours on transit in Auckland Airport. The only time i saw North Island was from the plane.

I think that the road journey from Dunedin to Queenstown is probably one of the best things you'll see. The mountains are like fake ones and they look wonderful when a portion of the mountain is shined by the sun. You can stop your car by the road and get off anytime to take pictures (but of course, look out).

Another wonderful place is the peninsula at Dunedin. Get a chance to see penguins there! Dunedin itself is beautiful. Don't forget to go up to Signal Hill to see Dunedin at night!

  2. I love the kapiti coast..

  3. i'd have to agree with Matauri Bay ... not that i've seen all over the place, but Matauri Bay is breathtakingly beautiful !!

  4. Milford Sound and perhaps Franz Joseph Glacier.

  5. Wellington is expensive to visit but then again, so is everywhere else.  I always seem to visit Gisborne cause the air is so fresh down there and the people ain't snobs.  All of New Zealand have pros and cons about the place.  Like, if it's expensive - you better have a good income and if it's on the cheap or moderate side of spending then you better get your shopping done before night fall cause the township normally closes around 6pm.  Unless your in Auckland then you'll be fine.

But, I'd recommend Gisborne any day. It's a beautiful place to visit.

  6. The most beautiful place in New Zealand is pretty much everywhere.

  7. Haven't been everywhere in New Zealand, but the drive from Dunedin to Queenstown was absolutely spectular. Howling Meg (the waterfall near Queenstown, I think) is the most spectacular natural thing I have ever seen. The view over the lake in Queenstown over the mountains is also pretty awesome.

And you could sit me down next to the bay in Auckland with a few beers, and I'd happily sit there all day, watching the world go by.

Liked the scenery from Auckland to Rotorua as well.

  8. There are a lot of beautiful places in New Zealand. Anywhere between mid North Island to mid South Island. You got endless beaches, plenty of mountains (a bit like Colorado) and four seasons in one day. In saying this, there are probably a lot of other beautiful places outside this area too. New Zealand is just a beautiful place overall.

  12. Milford Sound National Park

  13. wellington and auckland they are amasing places

  14. Wellington is the perfect place to spend a long weekend.

  15. Tekapo
