Where is the most beneficial place to move to become a teacher?

I live in NY and have been certified to teach El. Ed. here for 6 years, but, of course, cannot get a job here. I do not know or am not related to any superintendents (the only way to get a job in NY)! I have been thinking of moving so I can get a teaching job although I do not want to leave my family. I was wondering if anyone knew of a school district, city, state, or something, offering an incentive for teachers to move there that would be "worth it"? I would prefer something scenic and rural, but if it's really "worth it" I can handle commuting! Who needs Elementary teachers really bad???

  1. Unfortunately (like myself) you became certified in an area that produces most of the teachers in the country (the PA/NY/NJ area). If you want to stay somewhat local generally urban areas always need teachers - the NYC school district or the Philadelphia school district would always be hiring. As far as other places, I know Florida is in desperate need of teachers, though I am not sure of any incentives they offer. I'm pretty sure (though not positive) Las Vegas will give teachers money towards purchasing home if they sign a contract to teach for a certain number of years, so I would check that out.

  2. if you want scenic and rural come down under. Australia is in desperate need of teachers...bit of a seachange!
