Where is the most painful place to place a tattoo?

I'm planning to get a tatto and put it on my upper back, they say pain depends where you put it. does right upper back count? Just about in my right shoulder blade.

I have one on my right shoulder and it didn't hurt at all but i also have had some pretty bad tats( the Brest if female right near the armpit)

Also over top of your genitals that really hurts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! on the ankle near the bone feels like c**p but numbs really fast~ If you are going to get one get it where you want it no matter what because you have to live with it

it hurts more if its somewhere the skin is stretched pretty tightly over the bone, like your rib cage or the top of your foot. though i imagine the inside of your lip would hurt pretty bad too.

I have one on my upper back on the right side and would say it was the least painful.  The ankle ones were the most painful so far, I don't know that I would be able to cope with the ribs so haven't gone there yet!  Any tattoo is going to hurt a bit though, but it's not as bad as you think it will be.

when its on bones it  hurts the most. I have one on my wrist and it wasn't as bad as i thought it would be so the thin skin theory is wrong. On your feet (were the bone is) is very painful. Back will be just depends wear.But if it goes onto your shoulder blade then yes you will be in for some pain.Good luck.

Upper back is a bit painful but nothing too unbearable.

Most say the ankle (bony bit), wrist and under your arm (such as when you're doing armbands) are particularly painful.

I think fleshy places can be more painful than bony areas (I found this out after tattooing my back - the spine was nothing compared to the pain of the sides and 'love-handles'!).

But surprisingly my tattoo artists say that the butt is actually the most painful - because it's soft, fleshy and sensitive.

Where it hits the bone i have two on each inside of my ankle and it hurt worse when they hit the bone. I love them and wouldn't trade them for the pain. Don't not get a tattoo some where where its painful becuase your scared it may hurt, its gonna hurt anywhere you get it. If you love the tattoo your thinking of getting, go for it. The sharp pain is only during the tattooing after that its just kinda dull unless you poke at it, but i must warn you... there addicting lol.
