Boboli Gardens is a fantastic place, very romantic!  Also, I think the ponte vecchio is very romantic at night!

I would go for the Boboli Gardens. There are amazing walkways and a hidden fountain - wander, enjoy the day then pop the question!

It's a small "piazza" raised up above the city, which gives AMAZING views of Florence. good luck!!!
