Question:

Where is the nearest lake/mountain resort to Milan Bergamo Airport Italy?

I have flights booked in August to Milan Bergamo, we have reservations in Riva del Garda, however we have discovered that transfer from the airport to Riva will be very expensive and timely, car hire is a fortune, private transfers a huge amount and public transport very complicated with the route consisting of a combination of buses and trains, with a young child and no knowledge of the system or language this sounds like a nightmare.

So I thought where will give me a similar holiday but closer to the airport? your advice is much appreciated.

Thanks

  1. Hi!

I'm from Milan...Milan is very near Lake Como, Garda, lecco.

The most beautiful lake is Como.

In Como have their house many actors and celebrities! George Clooney, Matthew Bellamy (muse) exc...

Como is 20 min by train from Milan, the ticket cost 7,50 euro (from Cadorna)..

    15 min by auto.

Garda is about 1 hour by train. I think it cost 12 euro.

From Malpensa/Linate Airport to Milano there is a Shuttle which cost about 6,00 euro. and take you to central station.

Then you can take the train for the lake,, is much more convenient.

As for the timetable of the train: www.trenitalia.it

as for the shuttle: linate/malpensa - milan http://www.malpensashuttle.it/

    Have a good journey!

P.S. We are also near Lugano, Swiss (by car 40 min).

  2. Lago d'Iseo!

  4. You can go to Lago d' Iseo near Bergamo.

Easy to get to just 20 mins from Milan Bergamo airport

Here you can take a taxi from the airport to the lake

    http://www.airport-desk.com/airports/eur...

However, you can still go to  Riva del Garda

    Here is how to go...

Take a taxi from Bergamo for the guts of €200 (booked in advance).  It was worth it and you will be in Riva within a few hours of arriving in Bergamo and  you will not have any of the hassle of train/bus connections or car hire.

If there are more than 2 of you, taxi would be far easier and quicker.

Here is the link to book the taxi

    http://www.taximonzambano.com/bergamo_ai...

You will have to send them an e-mail for the exact price... But it is well worth it .. No hassles

The post below me suggests renting a small car... This would be the best idea since you cannot afford a taxi... Here is a good discount site to rent a car .. and you can drop it off in Garda   and Pick one up again there to return to the airport on your way back

Bergamo's Orio al Serio Airport rental car agencies

They have Avis, Budget, Hertiz, and several others .. Visit the link

The person who posted about the Gardatrentino has a great idea. You will have to take buses though

I used a great transfer service - email address is viaggimolinari@gmail.com - just request a price for your journey and let them know for how many people and they will send you a quote. They charged us Eu120 each way for 4 people (Eu30 each). It was worth every cent.

There is another transfer service in the lago di garda magazine website. A great site for anyone going to Lake Garda (lagodigardamagazine.com).

    I hope this helps

  5. I went to Riva Del Garda last year. We flew to Venice Treviso and got the train to Pesceria.  Verona was not far away from Garda as we went on the bus one day for a mooch about.

I wonder whether you have looked into trains. We booked our tickets online before we got there but they would have been much cheaper to buy them there. Also, to see the Countryside as part of the journey was nice. The two stop holiday (Garda and Venice) was great, maybe you could have a day or two in Milan, with the rest of the time at Lake Garda.  If you do go, try and go up the cablecar up Mt Baldo which is either at Bordalino or Malcascine.

  6. Lago d'Iseo - lake Iseo.

  7. it' s very difficult mhhh i'm from milan so i don't know very well bergamo area, anyway near orio al serio airport there s a nice lake called lago d'iseo but i don't know how far is it from bergamo airport and nice resort are Sarnico, iseo and lovere.

for what i know  it would be easy to reach milan(buses from bergamo airport will dorp u off at milan central railstation, or most of them) however i'd suggest u once your are in milan

get  a train from central railstation and  head 2wards como and it's lake(on the same lake other locations are bellaggio, cernobbio, menaggio) or lecco on lecco lake or verbania, ispra, arona all those placeses are very easy to reach from milan como it s only  half an hour from milan and milan it s 45 min from bergamo airport.
