  3. Balmoral Castle in Scotland. The estate was purchased by Queen Victoria's consort Prince Albert, and remains a favorite summer royal residence. The Queen and her royal family will be spending their annual summer holidays with a "traditional family barbecue picnic" at this lovely retreat.
