Question:

Where is the profiles folder in Microsoft Vista?

My sister got Vista a little while ago, and unknown to her when she downloaded Office, it went right to her "profiles" area of her computer. When her hard drive crashed later, she found out that one of the disadvantages to Vista is that profiles does not come back easily after a hard drive crash and she lost some things.

I just recently got Vista myself and I am trying to avoid downloading things into my profiles section as well, but how do you do that?

  2. If your computer crashes everything on the partition which contains Vista will be lost. It makes no difference if your files are in your 'profile'. You need to create a new partition and store your files there or backup to an external hard drive.
