Question:

Where is the "governor" located on my scooter so that I may remove it to go faster?

It is a 2005 49cc Kasea Sense Scooter (made by Hyosung). I already have engine diagrams from the factory. I simply can't figure out what to unplug, rewire, disconnect, replace, or remove to get it to go faster. Also, it goes considerably slower than 30 mph even though the speedometer reads 30 at top speed (and no, it isn't kilometers that I'm reading instead). I have checked it out by radar and it's actually around 25 mph.

  1. On something that size, the "governor" is probably a s***w attached to the carburetor/throttle cable assembly.  As you turn the throttle, a cable pulls and rotates an assembly attached to the carb.  That assembly will only rotate so far before it stops.  Look at what is stopping it, and if there is a s***w bumping against a "stop", then unscrew or remove that s***w.

Even if there is a governor, you're not going to get a lot of performance out of a 49cc scooter.

  2. It does not exist.  It is merely a restriction in the intake or the exhaust, that limits horsepower. So look for the washer in the intake or exhaust that restricts flow.

Thats your governor. Why make it more complex than it has to be?

  3. you need to remove the top of the carb, inbetween the spring and the slide they put a peice of metal to limit the amount the throttle opens.some have it and some dont, the only way to know is to check.

  4. Most 50cc and below scooters aren't very fast to begin with. I don't know how altering your scooter will make it go faster.

  5. It may not be that easy to do. You'd have to know the particulars for your bike. If it was very popular there'd be a users group for it, like at yahoogroups.com (you can go there and check). or you can check alt.scooters in alt user groups

It could be something as a restricting plate under the carb, but is more likely something built in, like the size or jetting of the carb used.

It also may be something you don't want to do. It may be there to limit revs to keep the engine from self-destructing.

The guy that posted this to the alt.scooters users group mentions something about a 'governor wire' in a post here: http://groups.google.com/group/alt.scoot...

    maybe you can ask him.
