Just to add a note to the above points, it is very rare for local authorities to permit a horse to be buried whole.  A horse is a very large animal and therefore needs a large grave.  You have to take into account the local water table and whether the body of the horse could contaminate the water supply.

If the owner really wants to have the horse buried, they are usually allowed to bury the head, heart and hooves, but the rest of the horse must be cremated or disposed of by other means (in GB it is quite common for the local hunt to take the carcass and feed it to the hounds: it is an economic way of disposing of the carcass as cremation can be very costly).

It seems to be a very well-maintained site, so I'm sure that as soon as a decision is made about where to inter Barbaro's ashes, it will be indicated on this site.

If Barbaro's owners want to make his gravesite available to the maximum number of people, then I believe that the Kentucky Horse Park would be the best place for his monument.

yup still is not buried yet. there have been many offers to the Jacksons to take in their wonderful colt but they really can't decide. so the horse was cremated and still at home with his owners.

One of the offers was at the Kentucky Derby museum. I actually thought that was a go but I guess not.

The first answer is correct, but it should also be noted that the horse was cremated, so it's not like his body is still hanging around.

He has not been buried yet. His owners had him cremated and are keeping his ashes for now. There is talk about burying him at Kentucky Horse Park or Churchill Downs racetrack. There is also some discussion about his owners starting a museum of racehorses bred in Pennsylvania and burying him there.

He still hasn't been buried yet.  The Jacksons had many offers including Churchill Downs and Kentucky Horse Park, but they wanted somewhere near their home but somewhere the fans could come visit him, so they didn't want to bury him at Lael Stables because it would be hard for people to come visit him (and awkward to have lots of random people invading their working stable all the time).  So they wanted to make a museum to honor all the area horses like Barbaro and Afleet Alex and McDynamo (a great steeplechaser)...  but museums take a long time to plan and create, so Barbaro is still resting at home with the Jacksons.

Barbaro still hasn't been buried yet. He is still with the Jacksons.  He could possibly buried at Churchill Downs or Kentucky Horse Park.
