Where is the safest place in new york to live?

From what people have told me its Manhattan... if you agree, which part of manhattan is the best part?

upper east side, morningside heights, the village, tribeca, chelsea.

the suburbs (nassau county, fairfield county, hoboken, union county, northern new jersey, westchester county etc.) are all very safe too

NYC is not a high crime area. I would just look around for a neighborhood I'd want to live in. There are more neighborhoods in NYC than you can count. I wouldn't live in a neighborhood just because somebody said it was safe.

If you are asking this question, you probably can't afford the "safest" and "best" parts of Manhattan.  As another answerer said, there are dozens of safe and comfortable neighborhoods in each borough.  Come visit and figure out what you like.
