  1. In the movie "Deliverance" (starring Burt Reynolds) the main characters are tortured by some scary hillbillies while on a rafting trip.

  2. I'm not sure, but it sounds like a canoeing reference to the movie Deliverance, and the song Dueling Banjos.

    I guess the counterpoint for banjo pickers would be "Play louder, I hear a canoe on the water".
