Where is the service in community service, unless it's from an imediate situation?

ie a law enforcement officer killed in the line of duty leaves behind a family virtually uninsured,or someone looses everything to a tornado/fire/flood.

I've volunteered in a host of organizations and individually for 35 years and have found little service in community service outside of an immediate situation.

i do community service like a couple times a month. like nothing really dangerous, just like helping out throwing donation parties nothing super big.

I don't understand your question. Do you mean that, in volunteering, you don't feel like you've really provided any service of value?
