Where is the star key on the american computer laptop keyboard?

was trying to learn excel and it said to multiply i must press the star key but i do not find it on my dell laptop keyboard can anyone tell me this

You press SHIFT and 8

at the top of the number pad. its used as times, n the slash is the divide symbol.

or it is at on the top row of numebrs above 8, so shift+8=*
