  1. The bottom right hand side of the engine.

  2. Ok I needed to be more specific.   On the side of your engine is a mounting bracket with the solenoid mounted on it.  The big (biggest) battery cable Pos. cable runs directly to this solenoid.  There are a couple smaller jumpers that run to the tilt and trim solenoids but the other side of the "starter" solenoid has a yellow wire runs down and to the left. It's about 12 or so inches long.  The starter is painted gray when new and you are looking at the back end.  It bolts on facing the bell housing on the lower left of the engine.  Often down between the stringers that the engine is mounted on.   I hope this helps.  On some bolts it's easy to get to, on others it's a little awkward.

  3. I think it's under the top engine cover st the side, right below the flywheel.

  4. you did the right thing following the + cable but is attached to the starter solenoid disconnect the battery take off and label the wires from the solenoid than than unbolt the starter

  5. follow the pullys and belts on the motor and you will come across a small electric motor that is your starter
