  1. I loved Taupo and Wellington!!! I think it was around 4-5hrs or so when I went. It was on a tour bus though, so it might not take as long since we stopped on the way.

Taupo I saw "Craters of the Moon" that was pretty cool!!!

Wellington: Go to the top of Mt Vicotoria. Plus they got a lot of tours for LOTR as well.  And visit the fault line there too!

Also, im trying to get this joke out to Dunedin, NZ... b/c where I live here in Florida, we have a city called Dunedin here where I live.  And the joke goes

Where do old lesbians go to die?  Dunedin!!!!

In this city, its highly populated with lesbians/g**s. Awesome place though!! Its Scottish for Edinburgh from what i've been told froma Scottish friend of mine.

  2. Taupo is situated on the northern shores of New Zealand's largest lake, also called Lake Taupo.

This is in the centre of the North Island and is approximately 4-5 hours drive from Wellington. That depends on how many stops you make on the drive.

It is a lovely region and very popular with fly fishing (trout), hiking, and is close to the North Islands major ski fields.

Taupo is also very close (1 hour) to Rotorua and is part of the same geothermal region. Mud pools and geysers can be found nearby.

Check out a map at the site below for more info.

  3. In the northeast corner of Lake Taupo, the town of Taupo is surrounded by the volcanic peaks of Tongariro National Park. Once known as a city, Taupo is now a 'district', encompassing the town and surrounding hinterland.

Great place if you are into extreme sports.
