  1. JFK

  2. Not sure, but I saw one in Poland which was only 200' long but it was 9,000 feet wide

  3. A Polish airlines 737 is on downwind for landing. From the cockpit voice recorder:

Capt: "d**n. That runway sure is short. We're  gonna have to slow this baby up. Flaps 10."

FO: "You got it capn'. Man that is short. Whataya think about flaps 20 a little early."

Capt: "Good idea, make it happen".

    Base leg.

Capt: "Awright, gear down, landing checklist. Man that's short, soon as the gear cycles gimme full flaps, I gotta really slow her down."

FO: "Yeah man, I'll get the ground spoilers on touchdown  while you jam reverse."

Capt: "Yeah, you do that and be ready to get on the brakes with me. We're gonna need all the stopping power we can get."

FO: "I'm on it capn. This ones gonna be close."

Our heroes get on the ground and somehow get stopped just before the nosewheel enters the grass.

Capt: "Whew. That  is one short runway."

FO, looking out his side window: "Yeah, but it sure is wide."

  4. That's funny $hit Walt. Any freeway in SoCal could double as a very wide and long runway. I'm going wit the runways at Edwards AFB tho.

  5. The longest runway at Edwards Air Force Base, California, USA is runway 17/35, 7.5 miles long and about 1 mile wide.

However, on the Rosamund Lake bed, there at Edwards, runways 02/20 and 11/29 are both 4 miles long and 4 miles wide, making them the widest runways in the world.

  6. being that you didn't specify exactly what a runway was other than a place for aircraft to get up to speed and depart, I would say the Pacific Ocean as there are float and boat planes that do take off from the water.

  7. The longest public-use runway in the world is at Qamdo Bangda Airport, in Bangda, Chamdo, Tibet Autonomous Region. It has a length of 5,500 m (18,045 ft). The world's widest paved runway is at Ulyanovsk Vostochny Airport and is 105 m (344 ft) wide.

Though theoretically the runways at Edwards Air Force Base, United States are miles long (39,060 ft, 11,905 m) in any given direction but are dry lakebeds with no conventional construction done. Its also a military installation like Ramenskoye Airport & the runway is not generally made available for use by civilian aircrafts.
