Question:

Where is there a good creative writing forum?

Either a group on here or somewhere else, something that would have information on things like characterization and plotting and just basically tips like you might receive in a book on writing fiction. But in bite-size chunks. I'm tired of being a crappy writer, and even tips on cutting down sentences so that they're simpler and more clean like what's in the paper would be appreciated.

So, like, I'll include good holistic grammar sites. I've tried paging through wikipedia to try to figure out how to write terse sentences, but I always get distracted. As you can see, I can't seem to say something in a direct fashion, I have to ramble, and I'm wondering how to just get to the point. Anyone conquer this problem?

PS: I hate newspaper writing, but it's very elegant and would be a nice skill to have. I flunked out of journalism, though for stupid reasons unrelated to writing or academic ability.

Cheers,

Rob

  1. www.pokecosmo.com/forums

  2. Rob, it isn't journalism you need. Check out your local library's writing section. You can pick up a text book on rules of grammar, rules of composition, rules of editing, increase your vocabulary, and do bite size chunks without breaking the bank. Ultimately, to write well, you need to READ great writers, and find your own voice.
