Both in sight of the station entrance.

Go to the higher number platform end of the station (the old Eurostar platforms) and out the exit with the big wide steps, you can see both from the steps.

There is a bar in the station you could use.

There's a pub which you might like near W'Loo station.  It's the Camel and Artichoke [just don't ask who thought that one up].

I have never been to the C&A but it might worth a visit for two blokes wanting a drink while waiting for their train. . . .

There are quite a few bars around waterloo.  There's one in it called Reef I think and it's quite nice.  Outside there is the H.I.T.W. bar (stands for hole in the wall).  Go towards the signs for bus stands to find this one.  If you want somewhere else then Stamford Street (other side of the roundabout with the IMAX in it) has a few nice pubs such as the Stamford Arms.
