Question:

Where is this Camus quote from?

"It is not your paintings I like, it is your painting."

I am 95% sure it is by Camus, I just don't remember from which essay or novel it is taken. But then I'm thinking it's by Wilde on The Picture of Dorian Gray because of it's mention of painting, but I'm reading it now and haven't come across it.

Any clarification would be greatly appreciated.

thanks in advance :D

  1. The quotation "It is not your paintings I like, it is your painting" is indeed that of Albert Camus.

The words are spoken by Rateau to his friend Jonas, in the story, "The Artist at Work," in Camus' book of short stories, "Exile and the Kingdom."
