  1. Usually you can change how hot your water gets by adjusting a k**b on your hot water heater. They are usually where your furnace is. This is really important if you have young children in the house.

You can also turn a k**b under your sink or behind the bathtub/shower wall that sets how much hot or cold water is able to come through the pipe--kind of like a nozzle on a garden hose. However, these are used for turning the water off if you need to repair the pipes and has nothing to do with the temperature of the hot water.

If you live in an apartment, you may need to make your manager/super aware that your hot water is at a scalding level. They will be able to give you specific instructions for your shower or be able to adjust the hot water heater for the whole building.

  2. assuming you own this house. there is a pannel on your hot water heater that can be removed and there will be a place to adjust the temp up or down. Be carefull not to adjust it too far up it could cause serious burns to people who are not aware. adjust in small increments 1 notch per 24 hours untill you are satisfied with the temp. 120 Degrees is standard so that your DW and Washing Machine are working properly.

  3. Just...don't turn the water up that hot.
