  1. Pine flats or Cave springs in Sedona, AZ  I'm sure there are some images on Flickr...it's awesome there!

  2. My favorite place to camp is at Memorial Park in San Mateo County California.  I have been going there since I was a kid.  In fact I am going there this coming Tuesday and it use to be first come first serve but now you have to reserve in advance

  3. Anywhere in the Great Lakes Area, North of the 45th Parallel - Lake Michigan, Huron or Superior.    Superior probably the most, near the Two Hearted River.   Very peaceful, woods, water, quiet, clean air.... its a slice of Heaven

  4. Rural dirt roads in north/west Montana. Either camp out in a clearing at the end of a remote dirt road near a creek and enjoy nature or find a rustic state campground off the beaten path. Definitely not a big campground park with a pool, shower, game room and stuff - those are crazy and lame. That isn't real camping and not at all peaceful

Get a gazatteer atlas for your state. It shows all the back roads - places where nobody else goes. http://www.rei.com/product/680109

  5. Burrells Ford Campground in South Carolina.  It's right on the border of South Carolina and Georgia.  You can hop in the river and walk to Georgia.  It's a hike in campground.  Each site has a bear pole (I think that's what they are called) to hoist your food up in the air.  It's primitive and you're lucky if the site has a stone fire pit, if not, build your own.  We found a site right next to the river that had a large boulder that worked nicely for protection from the wind.  The trout fishing was phenomenal, with both brook and rainbow trout.  There weren't many other campers around so it was quiet.  It was a little chilly in the mornings (in the mid 30s), but it's always nice to have coffee and warm up by the fire.  After spending a week there we didn't want to come home.

Next favorite is Belknap in the Southern Sierra Nevada Mountains in California.  A small campground with only 15 sites, a creek running through it, plenty of trails, a wonderful camp host, and roomy sites.  It sits at about 5000 ft. so if you are coming from a lower elevation be prepared.  The creek is stocked weekly spring through fall.  Last time we were there, they had updated from having pit toilets to a more sanitary restroom that could be hosed down for cleaning.  The trees are spectacular.

  6. Baker Lake in North Cascades National Park, WA. easily accessible great for just getting away for the weekend and full of cool places to explore. its peaceful, cell phone doesn't get reception, away from busy city life. you can keep going back and find many different places to set up camp and explore. its alot of fun.

  7.   I go wilderness camping on a lake in NW Ontario.  Been going there for 10 years, and have never seen another person on the lake.  Never found a beer can, cigarette butt or campfire ashes.

  8. National Forests........peace and quiet.......no crowds
