Behind Driver's Seat, Passenger Seat, or in the Middle?

Mine - behind driver's seat (and everyone tells me that's strange)

Does anyone know if one is considered safer than another?

  1. My Goddaughters car seat is positioned behind the passenger seat so I can see what she is doing.  If I am carrying more than just her, I put the youngest child in that position.

  2. Behind the passenger seat, so i can see him. i would like it in the middle though but i heard its safer behind the seat.

  3. According to the National Safety Council, children are much safer (29% safer) the farther they are from the point of impact in an accident. The center back seat is the most central in the car and the farthest from any collision point.

  4. The safest place for the seat is always in the back seat in the middle, that is the highest crumple zone of the vehicle, safety first.

  5. Behind the passenger seat so I can see.

His seat won't sit properly in the middle cause the way the back seats are like buckets and the middle position makes it rock side to side.

  6. The middle is slightly safer because it would be further from a potential point of impact.  BUT it is only safer if you can get a solid install.  BTW: most vehicles do NOT allow center LATCH installs, so check your vehicle manual.

We have a 3 year old DD who rides rearfacing in the middle of my car, but rearfacing outboard in DHs car because I could not get a solid install in the center of his car.
