I am going out tonight to try and see some shooting stars. Where can I go where there is little or no light pollution? I was thinking maybe out toward Biggar..

  1. The nearest area for low light pollution is southeast of the city. It's a big roadless area between Dunbar and Lauder that's very good. The area southeast of Biggar between Selkirk and Moffat is very good too, but it's a little farther out.

Here's a light pollution map of the UK:

  2. Wherever you go, you need to get away from big population centres and lights. As far away as possible from Edinburgh(as long as its safe).
