Where on a small boat are the quarter cleats?

    About halfway down is a picture of a small boat.  There are 4 cleats pirctured (from left to right) Bow cleat, forward-quarter cleat, aft-quarter cleat, and stern cleat.

  3. They are on the stern quarter, aft on either side.

  4. Pretend to divid the length of you boat into 4  equal parts.

    From the front tip, come back about 1/4 the length.

    The cleats that are there, approximately, are quarter cleats

  5. think about a compass. If the bow of the boat is North, the quarter cleats will be somewhere behind West and East, but ahead of South.

    OR, if there's the Bow (front) and Stern (back), there's also midships (the middle). The quarter is between midships and the stern.
