Where or how can I dispose of batteries like Energizer?

My father throws them away hastily, even after I remind him its illegal and harmful to the environment. But my problem is: I keep old batteries (Mostly AA's, and a small disk like batteries) in a place other than the trash, but how do I get rid of them? So I want to lose them without just hoarding them, knowing they'll never come out.

  1. You can recycle them at Radio Shack or Best Buy.

  2. Call your town/city hall. They may host recycling events during the year (1 or 2 times). There is a special double lined plastic bucket that is designed specially for battery disposal. They are expensive for us to buy.

  3. Feed them to your dog

  4. They can be recycled

  5. Alkaline batteries don't get recycled, they only recycle special kinds. Energizers or Duracells don't have any harmful chemicals in them so they can just go into your normal trash.

  6. Best Buy

    Circuit City

    Radio Shack

    Batteries Plus

    Etc.
