There are many serious birders who consider Swarovski the premier crafter of binoculars and spotting scopes.  They are manufactured in Absam, Austria.  Kahles is also an Austrian company that manufactures fine binoculars and rifle scopes.

There are a couple of Japanese companies that manufacture products that some consider of similar quality.  Nikon and Pentax.

In the U S there are several companies that also manufacture fine optics.  Celestron, Mead, Leupold, and Swift.

In Germany there is Leica, Steiner,  and Zeiss

In the Czech  Republic there is Meopta.

Russia has several manufacturers.  Lomo being one.
