Where r the must try singapore food ?

My overseas friends r coming over for a visit , yet sadly as a singaporean i donno where to bring them to eat !!!!! ....Can anyone help me ? I watch on tv show , they say wut kallang laksa is the best ? urm ...

A good, though touristic place to start would be Newton Circus. Otherwise visit Tiong Bahru market.

I'm not a Singaporean but as a frequent visitor, I must say that the Gaylang area is one of the best for authentic food. I never miss a chance to gorge out there, even if it means going to that sleazy area...only for food. The high-end restaurants in S'Pore offer the same fare as anywhere in the world.

There is another place I cannot quite remember- it's got a selection of restaurants- like a mall foodcourt- and pretty near to Cuscaden Road- maybe 10- 15 minutes drive by taxi.

I guess the best places to go must be hawker centres! Chomp Chomp has a variety of good local food.  Another good one will be Chong Pang Hawker Centre.
