Where should GTA V take place?

I know that GTA IV is very young & there is still al least a couple of years that it will very "hot," but I can't help but think about the future. I think everything in GTA IV is great... so what I am looking forward to is the location of GTA V.

I have read many forums & websites that say that the next GTA should take place in Vice City... but there is really not that much crime in Miami anymore... so it wouldn't make sence. Other people say it should be in some wierd places like Bejing, India, Africa, Mexico City, Chicago & many others. I don't think a GTA game should be made in a "nice looking" just because its looks it should have a high crime rate. Mexico City does have a very high crime rate but it is unappealing & Chicago is where Saint's Row take splace so it wouldn't be a good idea.

So my personal opionion is that the next GTA should take place in... well Liberty City again. It just seems like the most resonable idea... I would love to have San Andreas back but it's just too big with a lot of "dead space" if they can make a more interactive San Andreas I would completly be happy with it. But we will just have to wait & see. If a new city is created Atlanta or New Orleans would be the two cities that come to my mind.

So what city do guys wish the next GTA took place in???

  1. I think a modern day Vice City it may not hav e as much crime rate but they can add it so a new vice city like in gta 4 a new liberty city it will be good

  2. San andreas was released in 2004 and was set in 1992.

GTA 4 and GTA 3 were the only games set "now" when they came out.

In addition the crime rates in the game are not comparable to the real life crime rates at all, GTA does not examine real life and take the crime rates from there and then.

I think it should be in Liberty City. I hear people just naming famous cities like Chicago, London and ridiculous places like Delhi and when i picture it it isnt GTA its just another of these knock off GTa games like Saints Row.

Making GTA in Liberty City AGAIN would be a huge misake, what can they add to it? They can make it bigger and more detailed but it will just feel like the same game AGAIN. They should do either Vice City or the San Andreas area again. They still have that feel of GTA

Look back at how different the original Liberty City is to the new one.

THey barely kept anything the same. They reinvented the whole place.

Now see how they could remake Vice City in the 80s with the whole neon 80s feel but with a bigger, more detailed and most importantly different map. The same for San Andreas, imagine a next gen recreation of Clifornia and Nevada along with the desert and forests in between.

  3. JT gave a nice idea - Vice City of nowadays. If they can manage to fit SA, it would be even better. Huge territories to explore, tons of vehicles, interesting missions. But that must be San Andreas of nowadays too.

  4. I don't want to see Liberty City again, for now anyway. I could see Vice City being the next place. It's a very small city overall, and I think that it getting a full makeover would be a great thing. San Andreas is a huge city and I think it would take a lot of time to fully redo that city so Vice City is a good choice.

  5. Id like to see it in Chicago. The El would make a nice addition. Plus wouldnt it be fun having 4 stars and recreating the Blues Brothers chase scene under the El.

  6. just because a city has a high crime rate doesnt mean its a good setting for a GTA game

  7. GTA V should be set in Liberty City, because it's now a tradition for the "numbered" games to be set there.

But in the meantime, they should explore some new locations. Let's have a version set in London in the 1960s - loads of James Bond, Beatles, and Michael Caine references, and just think of the music, weapons and cars they could include.

Another good one for me would be Germany in the n**i era, but I don't think that would fly somehow, it would just be too much of a hot potato for them.

What they definitely don't need is yet another game set in an American city in the 1980s/90s/00s, as that's just too familiar now. They should keep the Liberty City tradition, and it would even be nice to go back to Vice City some day but please, let's leave it at that.

  8. How about a GTA game that is set in like the 1920s? When organized crime was huge. But for GTA V I would say Liberty City.
