Where should I buy a hamster? 8]?

Well, check on Petfinder.com and see if any local shelters/rescues have hamsters for adoption.

Personally, I have nothing against purchasing from Petco/PetSmart as long as the individual store is taking proper care of their animals.

I've seen some stores that I would NEVER purchase from, due to the lack of pet care they provide, and total disregard for the health of the animals they're selling.

Then, I've seen some where the animals are cared for by quality people, who often own the same pets at home, and treat them as their own.

A lot of people will say go to a local small-time pet shop, but those aren't always better. In fact, where I currently live, the small-time pet shop is the WORST when it comes to pet care/health of the animals for sale. Many there don't look like they'd survive the night. The local Petco & PetSmart, however, will not sell a knowingly sick animal, and will give you a 2-week guarantee on the animal sold (so if the animal gets sick and/or dies within the first 14 days you'll either get a refund of your money OR get a new animal of same price)

i always get my pets at koolau pets... but then again, i live on oahu... so thant mmight not work out for u unless u live on oahu, and in the kailua area.

I got my lovely Dwarf Hamster at a local Petco. He's great.

All the hamsters come neutered/spayed.

My Dwarf was only 13 dollars! Sometimes, they also might have a hamster up for adoption. For instance, someone (for some reason) gave the hamster back to PetCo so they keep it in a room in the back of the store, and they are for free...because you adopt them.

They also have a wide variety of food, cages, toys, bedding, and all other essentials for your new Hammy.

A place you can get them from is a animal shelter. (its helping out famliless animals :)) Petco or petsmart are good places too, i dont see why petsmart is a place u shouldnt go to...

go to petsmart they are a very good animal store.they treat all there animals with love.they usualy tame most there animals.i have bought hamsters from there and there amazing.get it from petsmart good luck!

My daughter had two and they do bite!  I had to take antibiotics due to the puncture wound. They fight something awful.  They smell bad.

I would not have any more, thank ....they are dead!

They also carry salmonella.  So wash your hands after handling them!
