Hey, I'm transferring to Concordia for Spring session. I want to find a place to live that is reasonable and not too small, hopefully a nice 2 1/2. I wont have a car so how important is it to be super close to my school? I'd like to be close but I'd also like to be comfortable and in a safe area? Can anyone recommend me some good neighborhoods to start my search?

  1. First of all Concordia university has two campuses; one is in downtown close to the Guy-Concordia metro station (1455 de Maisonneuve Blvd. W.) and the other one is 7 kilometers to the West (7141 Sherbrooke St. W.).

So you might first want to check where your department is located because chances are most of your courses will on that campus.

Now, the Concordia Student Union -CSU- offers several services including a 'Housing and Job Bank.'

The CSU classifieds allows you to both check the offers and to post and ad.

The site even displays a map to locate the addresses but you may have difficulties understanding the various acronyms used to name the different districts like:

    NDG: Notre-Dame-de-Grace

By the way, there's nothing like a spring session at ConU.

There is a fall session, winter session, and two summer session.

  2. I stayed in Cote des Neiges for a while just past Queen Mary...relatively cheap and close to downtown.  It's become a little more pricey than from when I was last there but it is very convenient.

  3. It's not super important to be close to the school since it's right at Guy-Concordia metro. I think it's just important to find a place close to a metro. Obviously the further from downtown you go the less expensive apartments get (generally). I would suggest the Vendome metro area. Things tend to be less expensive, but still nice, and there are many many apartment buildings around the area. I live around the Atwater area and I would recommend that as well. It's really close to school and to everything downtown. There tends to be larger apartments around that area though (many 2 or 3+ bedroom apartments, converted from older buildings, etc). So if you find roommates it could be very convenient and nice.
