  1. There are some good sites along the Lower Enchanted Road just north of The Forks.  See map 40 in the deLorme Maine Atlas.  Stop at the forest service in Caratunk for a fire permit.  These are remote sites that don't even have an outhouse.  There are similar remote campsites along the Golden Road near Millinocket and inside the KI and Jo-Mary gates off route 11 between Brownville and Millinocket.  See maps 42, 43 and 51 and check the North Maine Woods web site.  Have fun and don't start any forest fires.
